Our Savior Was Born?

“I bring you Good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior–yes, the Messiah, the Lord–has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!” Luke 2:10-11

Isn’t it amazing? Unfathomable! Christ our Savior was born. God sent His son to earth to live among us and to die for us, to conquer death and sin, and to pay the price for our eternal life with Him in Heaven. The victory is His.

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen! Isaiah 9:6-7

The Lord of Heaven’s Armies! This is the baby born today! And He goes on to live as a perfect man and die as a living sacrifice for our sins. Our Savior, says:

“Don’t be afraid! I am the First and the Last. I am the living one. I died, but look–I am alive forever and ever!” Revelation 1:17-18

He is our powerful Savior, the King of Kings, a fair and just ruler.

“What Child Is This?” Lyrics

What child is this, who, laid to rest,
on Mary’s lap is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet,
while shepherds watch are keeping?
This, this is Christ the King,
whom shepherds guard and angels sing;
haste, haste, to bring him laud,
the babe, the son of Mary.

Why lies he in such mean estate,
where ox and ass are feeding?
Good Christian, fear, for sinners here
the silent Word is pleading.
Nails, spear, shall pierce him through;
the cross be borne for me, for you;
hail, hail the Word made flesh,
the babe, the son of Mary.

So bring him incense, gold, and myrrh,
come peasant, king, to own him;
the King of kings salvation brings,
let loving hearts enthrone him.
Raise, raise the song on high,
the virgin sings her lullaby:
joy, you, for Christ is born,
the babe, the son of Mary.
